On Friday 7 February, Flemish minister of Economy, Innovation, Work, Social Economy Hilde Crevits visited Galloo in Menen. Galloo, headquartered in Menen, is one of the leading recycling plants of ferrous and non-ferrous metals in Western Europe.
Each year, Galloo processes 50% of all waste electrical and electronic equipment collected in Belgium (excluding cooling/freezing installations), representing 90,000 tonnes of household and professional waste per year. Currently, 98% of a car is already recycled at Galloo; the goal is to make this 100% one day. Galloo is also a pioneer in removing batteries from electric cars. Since April 2019, they have been an accredited centre for dismantling electric vehicles. In doing so, they were the first in Belgium.
