From Scrap Dealer to Leading European Player
It all began in 1939 when Joseph Galloo and Bertha Verhaeghe founded the company “Joseph Galloo.” Today, more than 780 employees each play a vital role in Galloo, which remains a family business in both management and spirit.Over the past 85 years, Galloo has experienced several key milestones, including the launch of non-ferrous sorting in the 1980s, the founding of Galloo France in 1989, and Galloo Plastics in 1997. The company also became a major player through the intensive recycling of vehicles via Valorauto and the recycling of wasted electrical and electronic equipment.
Galloo continues to grow through targeted acquisitions and now operates 44 sites across three countries: Belgium, France, and the Netherlands. Galloo has always been committed to developing increasingly ingenious solutions for recycling ferrous and non-ferrous metals and plastics, with respect for people and the environment. Its contribution to the circular economy is far from over, with several major projects in the pipeline — including the construction of a state-of-the-art shredder facility in Harnes (Lens region) by 2026.
