Official inauguration of Galloo Brugge’s new facilities

Following an acquisition, Galloo Brugge was one of the first sites to join the Galloo Group, which today has 44 sites. Thanks to this extensive network, Galloo is one of Europe’s leading partners in the collection and recycling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Galloo Brugge covers an area of 2.4 hectares and welcomes both professional suppliers and private individuals bringing in metal waste, end-of-life vehicles and discarded electrical and electronic equipment. The site now has a new administrative building, a new weighbridge and a large covered hall. In addition, the water treatment system has been significantly expanded.

The new buildings in Bruges are part of Galloo’s investment strategy to continuously adapt its infrastructure to new standards. They provide more spacious and safer storage capacity, a comfortable working environment for employees, and smooth, safe traffic flow on site for all suppliers and internal heavy equipment.

A sustainable company

Not only are Galloo’s recycling activities sustainable, we also optimise our energy consumption through the installation of solar panels. The redevelopment of the site was also an opportunity to modernise the water treatment plant. More than 500 metres of underground pipes were laid to bring everything together in a single water treatment plant equipped with two buffer basins, with a total capacity of 460 m³, and two consecutive filtration stages. The installation is designed to handle the heaviest rainfall: the pumps can discharge up to 260 m³ of water per hour.

Inland waterway transport

Thanks to its location along the Boudewijn Canal, Galloo Brugge is an ideal starting point for inland waterway transport. Scrap metal is perfectly suited to transport by water: it does not deteriorate, can be transported very efficiently in bulk and also helps keep dozens of trucks off the roads.

Galloo would like to thank all the partners who contributed to the realisation of this project, and especially all Galloo employees who give their very best every day.
